about the artist
Patricia is a 20-year-old creative visual artist specializing in tattoos, printmaking, and 3D forms. She studies Furniture Design and Printmaking at the Rhode Island School of Design (RISD) in Providence, RI.
Her work focuses on archiving decaying processes, creating vessels that showcase the decay, age, and evolution of materials. Through printmaking, Patricia integrates her 2D design and tattooing skills with techniques such as Intaglio, Lithography, and Relief. This involves exploring various iterations, layering, and pushing boundaries until all possibilities are exhausted. In extreme monotyping and monoprinting, she observes breakdowns and their resulting marks, natural patterns, and textures rearranging these into new forms.
In addition to printmaking, Patricia delves into sculptural work, woodworking, metalsmithing, and light design in her Furniture Design studies. This combination of a 3D design major and a 2D fine arts major allows her to explore a wide range of technical interests and approach decay in diverse ways. Tattooing also plays a crucial role in shaping her design process, and she finds it particularly exciting to merge these disciplines.
